Health Information Exchanges and HiTech eHealth Directory
Last week, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Health Information Organization submitted a proposal with the state’s Health Information Technology Coordinator’s Office presenting its plans to create a regional Health Information Exchange that would serve Philadelphia-area hospitals, doctors and other health-care providers.
Congratulations to the Maine Regional Extension Center at HealthInfoNet which has met its enrollment target. It is the first regional extension centers in the country to reach its enrollment target. They are now working to assist a 1000 of Maine’s primary care providers implement an electronic health record, meet meaningful use stage one, and connect to Maine’s statewide health information exchange.
New York’s health information exchange and IT framework is built upon common statewide information policies, technical standards, and protocols, as well as regional “bottom-up” implementation approaches and care coordination to allow local communities and regions to structure their own efforts based on clinical and patient priorities.
The Santa Cruz Health Information Exchange is one of the oldest and most advanced multi-stakeholder health information exchanges in the country. The clinical network connects a large IPA, two local hospitals, several County Health Clinics, County Detention, Mental Health, seven national and local reference labs, five imaging centers and several safety net clinics.
