The newly revised Health IT Dashboard presents key information and data to support the monitoring of the impact of federal policies, programs, and research activities related to health IT.
The new Dashboard provides summary information about all ONC HITECH grant programs and detailed information on Regional Extension Centers and the Community College Consortia which serves to educate Health IT Professionals.

Well it’s nice to hear a success story about a college grad getting a job. What’s remarkable about this story is that most hospitals refuse to hire healthcare I.T. folks unless they have years of healthcare experience and/or specific vendor experience. Most of the students that graduate from these programs do not have this experience, and though they spend a lot of time getting an education, they still face a tough time getting a job.
One of the toughest issues is getting by the robots in the human resources department that only know how to screen candidates based on “keywords” in a resume. Plus, all the lousy software, like Taleo, they are using only allows recruiters to search resumes on specific keywords. Thus, hospitals are missing a lot of good candidates due to their automated systems and their myopic… “You don’t have Epic experience” or “You don’t have any healthcare experience”. Hockey Puck I say!!!!

Despite the fact that she has worked as an information technology analyst for some 15 years, when Soussan Ahmadi (side note – Soussan was one of my students in the MEDIT 235 class that I taught at Bellevue College) found herself unemployed last year, she realized that she needed to dramatically expand her technological expertise—and no field looked as promising as health information technology.
