/>Okay, so this press release is somewhat confusing to me because Southeastern Michigan already has a Health Information Exchange. See http://healthinformationexchanges.org/southeast-michigan-health-information-exchange/. Now this press release comes out where they state that the The Southeast Michigan Beacon Community is starting an HIE. SEMHIE isn't even mentioned in the press release.
PR Newswire – 18 hrs ago
DETROIT, Feb. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Southeast Michigan Beacon Community (SEMBC) announced today that it has started implementation of BeaconLink2Health, an all-new Health Information Exchange (HIE). />Highmark is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association based in Pittsburgh and they just announced they are working with New York-based Verizon to construct a health information exchange. Insurance companies controlling health information exchanges is a major concern of mine. What do you think they are going to do with all that patient data?????????<br
