See www.socialmediahit.com for more information. Hospital systems and State and Federal governments have been focused on implementing electronic health records for many years. And now with ARRA, these organizations have accelerated and expanded their efforts in an effort to better support their constituents and achieve better results. Additionally, many of the organizational stakeholders including patients, nurses and physicians have limited experience with electronic health records and it is imperative that both the government and provider organizations communicate effectively with their constituents to educate, update and partner with each of these groups in order to have successful implementations. This panel will review how hospitals and state governments are transitioning from some traditional methods to new social media tools to better engage and support all of their representatives. Panel discussion included: – How to use Web 2.0 strategies in healthcare marketing with a focus on one states approach of using old school media to communicate and get input from diverse stakeholders – How health systems are using social media tools to engage physicians separated by large distances to develop clinical content and best practices – How Kaiser Permanente is leveraging social media tools to engage and communicate with all of their patients and providers.
